The People We Meet

Meeting folks along the road has been as much of a highlight for us as seeing the sights. In planning our travels we envisioned finding friends and like-minded folks as well as scenic roads and terrific views. We are not disappointed. The ways people travel and the spirit they put into their travels are as varied as they are creative and inspirational.

We saw a Jeep in Capitol Reef, Utah and thought it wonderful. Then we met the owners, Melanie and Martin, and were totally enchanted with them as well. They are on their way to Alaska with, we hope, a stop on Whidbey Island on their way back home to California. We'll definitely be following their adventure at: http://www.180dayroadtrip.com

But, all along the way, we have met people we want to see again. That's perhaps the way of camping. The cold nights and hot days and long hikes and no showers and campfires bond us together. Here are folks we have gathered contact information from and hope to meet again.

Larry from Alaska and Pat from Montana, Joshua Tree, CA. We shared our camp with Larry and coffee with Pat..

Heather and Greg in the U.S. for a year, from Australia, Joshua Tree, CA...

A couple from Victoria, B.C., Patrick and Jane, hiking at Kentucky Camp. We saw them again in Patagonia, Arizona...

On a hike in Sedona, Arizona, Ben and Carrie. Ben graduated from Oak Harbor High School, on Whidbey Island in 1973...

Connie and Jim at Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Arizona. Fellow full-time Sprinter travelers and bikers...

Muffy and Vic, from Whitehorse, Yukon, at Mulie Point, Utah. Traveling for six months on a trial run before making a final decision about full-timing...

Gaby and Sergius, from Germany, traveling indefinitely. We shared dinner together in Boulder, Utah...
