In the Land of the Saguaro

Ok, I'm done! Pooped! I'm taking a day off from doing nothing! Here we are at Picacho Peak State Park, just out of Tucson, hanging out as it suns, rains, thunders, blows and then cycles back through all four again. The weather is lovely! I needed a day of cool and a day of rest and I'm getting both. I continue to be amazed by how much energy one uses traveling, seemingly doing nothing, but it's exhausting nevertheless. Then add hot for the finishing touch.

Finally, doing nothing needed to end, so Ed, Benton and I headed out for a short hike. We set out in the sun, and then it thundered and it rained and then it stopped, and then it started again. I love this changing weather. And I'm very happy to have cooler temperatures today.

"The saguaro cactus is like the plant of perpetual youth – it is only considered an adult when it is 125 years old, and saguaros generally die when they’re 150-175 years old. Lucky, or particularly youthful cacti, may live over 200 years."
