A Two Hallelujah Day!

Anza, Borrego CA #1

We arrived in Anza Borrego yesterday and we found hot! We know summer days here can get much hotter, but for us NW cool weather types, it is still very hot -- 90 degrees. What is it about the weather? Too hot, too cold, too windy, too wet, too dry...Awk!

First thing this morning, we took gloriously hot showers and then joined Langley friends, Paul and Karen for lunch. Lunch was a relaxed, long, and leisurely visit. When we see them on home turf it always seems much more rushed, complete with a million interruptions. Given the deep roots of us all in that community, there is no hideout where we're not known and greeted, which is a very good thing on the one hand. But, on the other hand, it can seriously interrupt the flow of a conversation, leaving one wondering what happened to one's thoughts.

After lunch, Ed and I headed for the laundromat. Now we're clean through and through -- showers and clean clothes, all in one day. Hallelujah! While doing our laundry, we were accosted by two young men asking if we'd seen an envelope on the table. We hadn't, but tried to help locate it. The envelope contained a paycheck, critically important for a trip to Virginia the next day for one of the two men. Garbage cans were checked, dryers checked, tables searched, floor searched. Nothing. But, hallelujah again! The lost was found. The envelope was located outside in the parking lot. We've just had a two hallelujah day!

Our walk around the Anza Borrego Visitor Center was a flower delight.
